After five years of helping injured service members successfully transition into civilian life, Wounded Warrior Project's (WWP) staff, family, volunteers, warriors, and friends came together to honor WWP’s history and founders and formally dedicate WWP’s Sacrifice Center. The WWP Sacrifice Center was built to tell the stories of America’s injured service members, starting with the decision to serve and continuing on through injuries to triumphs and successes post-injury. Exhibits include displays with warrior stories, videos of WWP programs in action, and examples of body armor and prosthetic technologies for the public to see first-hand. The Sacrifice Center Dedication program included special remarks by WWP executive staff and board of directors president, a ceremony to honor the 26 founders of WWP, and a deeply moving video commemorating friends and family who have fallen in the line of duty. The event concluded with a proclamation that formally identified the guiding principles that led to the founding of WWP. Each of WWP’s founders signed the proclamation and re-committed themselves to upholding those values in the future. Now that the Sacrifice Center has been formally dedicated, it hosts visits from school groups, JROTC, and the general public. Wounded warriors are always welcome to visit, although we encourage you to call ahead to make sure staff are on hand to host your visit.
