Wounded Warrior Project Outlines Veteran Suicide Prevention Efforts to US House Committee

WASHINGTON, Sept. 22, 2021 -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Chief Program Officer Jennifer Silva testified today before the U.S. House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, where she told members the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent withdrawal from Afghanistan have elevated the challenges surrounding veteran suicide prevention efforts. Silva outlined ways WWP is supporting wounded veterans, including making outreach calls to those who served in Afghanistan. She also shared additional steps Congress and the health care and veteran services communities should take longer term to serve the veteran population.

Wounded Warrior Project to Call and Support 40,000 Afghanistan Veterans

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 19, 2021 -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is mounting a campaign to call and offer support to approximately 40,000 veterans of the Afghanistan War amid recent developments.  

About 400 WWP teammates will be making calls to support warriors as they navigate the news. The WWP teammates will remind the warriors they're not alone and connect them and their families to resources, especially in mental health, during this time and into the future.

Wounded Warrior Project Supports Introduction of Clothing Allowance Reform Bills

WASHINGTON, July 28, 2021 -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) applauded the introduction of the Brian Neuman Clothing Allowance Act of 2021 and the Mark O'Brien Clothing Allowance Act of 2021 on Capitol Hill today. The bills are named after two severely injured combat veterans, Army SSG Brian Neuman and Marine CPL Mark O'Brien. 

"Given that I use prosthetics, having to apply for a clothing allowance every year seems very ineffective, especially for those of us with traumatic brain injuries who often forget to apply," said O'Brien.
