Advisory Council Member
Joe Petri brings a wealth of experience in global finance and risk management to the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Advisory Council. He was one of the founders of Tandem Global Partners, a fixed-income asset management company, and has held top executive positions at HSBC Bank USA and Merrill Lynch. Now involved in private investing and volunteer work, Petri is an investment committee member on the board of directors for the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation and is an owner and member of the board of directors for the national restaurant group Fig & Olive.
When Petri joined HSBC as treasurer, his responsibilities included overseeing sales and trading for all HSBC products. He was then promoted to head of global markets for the Americas. In this role, he oversaw the growth and management of all HSBC capital markets and treasury activities in North and South America. He hired more than 650 professionals and managed in excess of $30 billion in investment portfolios.
Prior to joining HSBC, Petri spent 14 years at Merrill Lynch, where he served in a variety of leadership positions, including president of government securities and global head of institutional sales for equity and fixed income. Petri was an original member of Merrill Lynch’s risk management committee, on which he served his entire time at the company. Also during his tenure, he was elected as one of the first two investment bankers to serve on the New York Federal Reserve board’s foreign exchange advisory committee.
Petri started his career as an admiralty litigation attorney at Bigham Englar Jones & Houston. He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Fordham Law School.
