Wounded warrior Morgan Russ works on fine motor skills by playing a game of Operation with his mom, Janice.

Every warrior has unique challenges and goals. That’s why we provide a variety of veteran programs and services to help you take the steps that are right for you.

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) serves veterans and service members who sustained a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound while serving in the military on or after September 11, 2001. Family members of these warriors are also eligible. All WWP programs and services are offered free of charge to warriors and their families. We’re committed to helping injured veterans achieve their highest ambition. When they’re ready to start their next mission, we stand ready to serve.

The Independence Program supports and empowers warriors and caregivers with tailored solutions that help them regain independence from debilitating conditions and injuries, such as moderate to severe brain injury, spinal cord injury, or neurological condition.

The Independence Program is customized to meet the unique needs of each veteran as well as their families and caregivers. The program can:

  • Offer increased access to community services
  • Provide rehabilitation through alternative therapies
  • Empower warriors and families to achieve their personalized goals for leading a more independent life
  • Provide access to long-term care planning and support services

Because every journey is different, we work as a team with veterans, their family members, and their caregivers to set goals to live a fulfilling life, at home, with their loved ones.

The Independence Program supports registered WWP Alumni and their caregivers.
