Family Support

THE REALITY AFTER THE REUNION

When a service member is wounded, ill, or injured, these changes place tremendous stress on family members, who may find themselves in a new role as full-time supporters or caregivers. These individuals are an integral part of a Wounded Warrior's successful recovery. Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) is dedicated to supporting families and caregivers as well as their Wounded Warrior.

Our Family Support staff reach out to family and caregivers of warriors living with physical and/or mental health conditions to ensure they receive the full range of support and benefits of our program.

If you are a family member or caregiver of a Wounded Warrior who incurred a service-connected wound, injury, or illness of mind, body, or spirit on or after September 11, 2001, you are eligible for the WWP Alumni Program. Verification of service is required. Click here to register.

Family members and caregivers will have access to the following benefits:

Family Support Retreats
We understand the well-being of spouses, parents, and siblings depends upon periods of rest and rejuvenation, ultimately benefitting the warriors who rely on them. Family Support Retreat weekends provide the opportunity to rest and reflect in a supportive environment of peers.

My Care Crew - a community approach to caregiving
My Care Crew makes it easier for friends, family, and the community to assist Wounded Warriors and their families as they transition home through an easy-to-use, private online community powered by Lotsa Helping Hands.

Family or friends, known as Crew Coordinators, list needs of the family such as meal delivery, transportation, shopping, or household chores. Approved family, friends, and community volunteers then sign-up online to help with specific tasks and a virtual calendar tracks their actions. Email notifications are sent to remind volunteers about upcoming duties.

Crew Coordinators can post photos and journal entries to update friends and family on the Wounded Warrior's status and progress eliminating the need for repetitive updating by the family.
