Advisory Council Member
Dave Gowel is the chief executive officer of RallyPoint: an online military network with over 1 million military members, adding more than 1,000 new members each day. He joined the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Advisory Council in 2015.
Gowel began his career in the Active Duty United States Army as an armor officer and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as a tank platoon leader. He honorably completed his active duty military service at the rank of captain, while teaching military leadership as an assistant professor in the ROTC program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Departing his full-time role at MIT in 2008, he co-founded a consulting firm that helped businesses use social technologies more effectively. Gowel then co-founded a software company in 2010 after inventing a software platform to help corporations conduct better cloud technology training.
Gowel is also the author of “The Power in a Link: Open Doors, Close Deals and Change the Way You Do Business Using LinkedIn” (Wiley, 2011). Outside of the WWP Advisory Council, he is an active advisor to various veteran support organizations including Vets in Tech.
Gowel is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (’02) and the U.S. Army Ranger School.
