JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 24, 2026) – Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) purchased its longtime headquarters in Jacksonville on Wednesday, reinforcing its commitment to Northeast Florida. The purchase strengthens the organization’s long-term stability and expands WWP’s capacity to support warriors locally, nationally, and internationally through long-term cost savings.
“Wounded Warrior Project made a promise more than 20 years ago to be there for warriors, no matter what,” said WWP® CEO Walt Piatt. “Buying our headquarters is another step forward in keeping our promise for generations to come. We are proud to strengthen our roots in Jacksonville, a city with deep military ties and a strong culture of service.”
WWP relocated its headquarters to Jacksonville in 2006 and moved to its current building in the city’s Southside area in 2010. The building at 4899 Belfort Road — also known as Butler Plaza I — is more than 87,000 square feet and home to nearly 400 WWP employees. Employees at the nonprofit’s headquarters deliver programs and services that support the social, physical, mental, and financial wellness of warriors and their loved ones. The purchase will provide WWP with more operational control and flexibility to enhance the building and better serve military and veteran families.

WWP was founded in 2003 with a mission to provide simple comfort items to wounded service members returning from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Today, the organization still provides bedside support to service members but has evolved into the nation’s leading veterans service organization, focused on the total well-being of veterans, service members, and their families. WWP has invested more than $3 billion to support service members, veterans, and their families since 2003.
